American Airlines has announced plans to launch a new daily nonstop flight from Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin, to New York LaGuardia Airport. The service is set to begin on September 3 and will be operated by Republic Airways under the American Eagle brand. This route will introduce competition with Delta Air Lines, which already operates two daily flights between Madison and New York.

The aircraft designated for this route is the Embraer E175, which seats 76 passengers. Dane County Executive Melissa Agard highlighted the convenience of the new service for both leisure and business travelers due to its favorable departure and arrival times.

The schedule indicates that flights from LaGuardia will depart at 17:25 and arrive in Madison at 19:02. Return flights are scheduled to leave Madison at 6:00 and reach LaGuardia by 9:19.

Dane County Regional Airport recently added another nonstop service to Los Angeles International Airport via Breeze Airways, further expanding its offerings. These developments bring the total number of nonstop destinations from the airport to 17.

Joe Parisi, another Dane County Executive, noted that the new route would provide more opportunities for residents of south-central Wisconsin to visit New York City and other East Coast locations. He emphasized that seamless travel options are a priority for both leisure and business travelers using the airport.

Republic Airways currently operates a fleet of Embraer aircraft for several major airlines including American Eagle, Delta Connection, and United Express. The addition of this new route is expected to benefit leisure passengers by potentially reducing prices through increased competition.

In related news, Republic Airways announced a merger with Mesa Airlines earlier this year. This move aims to expand their operations further within the regional airline market.
