Alaska Airlines has launched its first long-haul route from Seattle to Tokyo Narita on May 12, using Hawaiian Airlines aircraft. The daily service is operated by a 278-seat A330-200. Passengers can connect to Alaska Airlines’ network over Seattle and Japan Airlines' destinations via Narita. This addition joins existing flights by Japan Airlines, All Nippon, and Delta between Seattle and Tokyo.

Uganda Airlines commenced nonstop flights from Entebbe to London Gatwick on May 18, marking the first such service in a decade. The airline operates four times weekly using a 258-seat A330-800. The route primarily serves the diaspora, tourists, and those visiting friends and relatives.

United Airlines began its inaugural service from the US to Faro, Portugal, on May 16 with a flight from Newark. This new link runs four times weekly on the 757-200 aircraft. United now serves four Portuguese airports: Faro, Lisbon, Ponta Delgada, and Porto.

WestJet has introduced flights to Salt Lake City from Edmonton as of this week. Additionally, it reintroduced nonstop flights from Calgary to Mexico City on May 14 after last serving it in 2018.

TAP Air Portugal launched two new US routes last week: Porto to Boston on May 14 and Lisbon to Los Angeles on May 16. These services are part of TAP's expansion into the US market.

Avelo shifted its Chicago operations from Midway to O’Hare starting May 15 with twice-weekly flights from Tweed New Haven using the Boeing 737 series aircraft.
