A Hawaiian Airlines flight was evacuated at San Diego International Airport due to a bomb threat on May 20. The Airbus A330 was preparing for departure to Honolulu when a passenger reported the threat to a flight attendant, claiming the person next to him had a bomb.
The captain promptly moved the aircraft to a secure location and alerted authorities. San Diego International Airport coordinated with Port of San Diego Harbor Police and Hawaiian Airlines to ensure safety. Despite the incident, other flights remained unaffected.
Law enforcement, including Harbor police SWAT, K-9 teams, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, and FBI were involved in investigating the threat. Passengers were deplaned using a rolling staircase and transported by shuttle bus.
