Cathay Pacific has announced the resumption of direct flights between Hong Kong and Adelaide, set to begin in November 2025. The airline plans to operate three flights per week on this route, with the announcement made on the social media platform X.

According to a press release from Cathay Pacific, the service will run from November 11, 2025, through March 27, 2026. This reinstatement follows a multi-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which had a significant impact on international air travel. The decision is part of Cathay Pacific's strategy to rebuild its long-haul network and meet increasing demand for travel to South Australia.

The Hong Kong–Adelaide route will be serviced by Airbus A330-300 aircraft featuring both Business and Economy Class cabins. Flights are scheduled to depart Hong Kong on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, returning from Adelaide on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This schedule aims to provide convenience for travelers and enhance cargo capacity.

As reported by the South Australian Tourism Commission in the same press release, the direct service is expected to contribute over AUD $24 million to the local economy. The airline anticipates carrying more than 25,000 passengers during this four-month period, highlighting the economic benefits of international connectivity. South Australian officials emphasized that these flights will support tourism, education, and business sectors by maintaining essential air links with Asia.

Operating from its hub at Hong Kong International Airport, it serves over 80 global destinations with both passenger and cargo services.
