Adel Ahmad Al Redha Deputy President & Chief Operations Officer | Emirates Airline

The strategic partnership between Emirates and Air Mauritius has been renewed, as confirmed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Mauritius. This collaboration was initially established in 2003 following the launch of Emirates' services to the island nation and was later renewed in 2013 with an enhanced codeshare agreement on expanded routes.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, commented on the renewal: "Our strategic, long-standing partnership with Air Mauritius continues to provide customers of both airlines with travel benefits such as seamless connections on select routes, ability to conveniently using a single ticket for the entire journey, as well as opportunities to earn and redeem rewards on both frequent flyer programmes."

Kazim also highlighted the contributions made through this partnership over its 23-year history: "Now in its 23rd year, our partnership with the national carrier has allowed us to continuously provide value to the island nation, through our passenger operations, cargo handling capabilities and more, with tangible contributions that have helped build a strong and sustainable tourism economy."

Kremchand (Kishore) Beegoo, Chairman of Air Mauritius, expressed optimism about the renewed agreement: "The renewal of our longstanding partnership with Emirates marks an important milestone for Air Mauritius. Emirates is one of our key strategic partners, and this enhanced agreement further deepens the strong relationship between our two airlines."

Beegoo noted that this cooperation would benefit both airlines through reciprocal codesharing on select routes beyond their respective gateways. It will also enhance cooperation in frequent flyer programs and cargo services.

Under this renewed strategic cooperation, Air Mauritius will place its code on several Emirates-operated flights including those to Cairo, Colombo, Karachi, Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh. In return, Emirates will place its code on Air Mauritius’ services along the Mauritius – Antananarivo route.

Since commencing operations in 2002 to Mauritius and partnering with its national carrier shortly thereafter, Emirates has promoted Mauritius globally while supporting Air Mauritius' operations. The airline has carried over 8.8 million passengers and more than 126 thousand tonnes of cargo on flights related to Mauritius.

The collaboration has generated significant economic benefits for Mauritius totaling USD900 million annually. This includes USD119 million from direct contributions via weekly passenger flights by Emirates; USD264 million from tourism receipts; and USD530 million contributed indirectly through tourism-related spending. Furthermore, it supports approximately 3,600 jobs within the nation.

Emirates currently maintains commercial cooperation agreements with numerous interline partners across nearly 1,800 cities worldwide.
