United Airlines has announced on X that it will introduce free Starlink-powered Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members, beginning with regional jets in May 2025.
According to United Airlines' official newsroom, the airline has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for its first Starlink-equipped aircraft, an Embraer 175. The inaugural flight with this new service is scheduled for May 2025. The rollout will start with regional jets, and there are plans to install Starlink on over 300 two-cabin regional aircraft by the end of the year. The installation process takes approximately eight hours per aircraft, enabling a rapid deployment across the fleet.
As reported by The Points Guy, United Airlines intends to equip more than 1,000 aircraft, including both regional and mainline jets, with Starlink Wi-Fi over the coming years. This service will provide download speeds of up to 250 Mbps, significantly improving the in-flight internet experience for passengers. The airline aims to offer a consistent and high-quality connectivity experience throughout its entire fleet.
