Christy Hoffman General Secretary | UNI Global Union

Teleperformance employees in Ireland, who work remotely, have gained the right to union recognition and collective bargaining. This follows the signing of a local agreement between Teleperformance and UNI Global Union’s Irish affiliate, the Communication Workers Union (CWU).

This development is significant for Teleperformance workers in Ireland, as the country’s laws do not require employers to recognize unions or engage in collective bargaining. The agreement highlights Teleperformance's commitment to a global accord with UNI established in 2022.

Fionnuala Ní Bhrógáin, CWU Head of Organising, expressed satisfaction with the agreement: “The CWU welcomes the successful conclusion of the new agreement reached with Teleperformance. This outcome underscores the value of collective bargaining and constructive engagement between unions and employers. We commend all involved in the process and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring the agreement is fully implemented in the interests of all our members.”

Teleperformance is a leading provider of business processing services, including outsourced contact centers. The agreement includes several key provisions:

- Recognition of CWU as the legitimate representative for Teleperformance workers in Ireland.

- Right to collective bargaining once union membership reaches 40% of employees.

- Union access allowing CWU to interact with workers neutrally, informing them about their rights and promoting membership.

- Assurance of freedom of association so workers can join unions without interference or retaliation.

- Company neutrality regarding union activities.

- Formation of an implementation committee comprising representatives from both parties to monitor compliance and address issues.

Christy Hoffman, General Secretary of UNI Global Union, commented on this progress: “Whether working from home or in a call centre, all workers deserve a voice. Thanks to CWU’s efforts, Teleperformance workers in Ireland now have a clear path to union representation and collective bargaining. This is yet another example of how our global agreement is turning principles into progress and opening the door to organizing worldwide.”

Jennifer Stephenson from Teleperformance UK & Ireland and Fionnuala Ní Bhrógáin from CWU signed this agreement on April 25th, 2025.
