Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) has announced a significant investment in its fleet modernization program, committing AED 60 million (USD $16 million) to purchase 53 aircraft catering trucks. This move is part of EKFC's broader strategy to introduce 120 next-generation vehicles over the next five years. The new trucks will be added to the fleet within the next year, with the first expected later this year.

The agreement involves collaboration with Mallaghan, Al-Futtaim Auto and Machinery Company (FAMCO), and Volvo. The new Volvo FL 250 4X2 Euro 6 trucks will feature advanced sensors and monitoring systems aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions through the latest diesel engine technologies.

In a pioneering step for the region, EKFC is also working on a Proof-of-Concept electric aircraft catering truck. This initiative represents a regional first in sustainable aviation catering equipment. The electric truck is anticipated to begin operations by summer 2026 at Dubai International Airport.
