Copa Airlines announced it has resumed flights between Panama City and Caracas as of May 27, offering daily service with plans to increase to two daily flights starting June 23, 2025. This information was shared in an announcement on X.

The resumption of flights between Panama and Venezuela follows a nearly year-long suspension that began in July 2024 due to diplomatic tensions. According to the Associated Press, Panama's refusal to recognize the results of Venezuela's presidential election led to the cessation of air travel and the withdrawal of diplomatic representation by Venezuela. The restoration of flights marks a significant step toward mending strained relations and improving regional connectivity.

Copa Airlines resumed its Panama City to Caracas route with one daily flight starting May 27, 2025, and plans to increase to two daily flights from June 23, 2025. The airline received authorization from Venezuela's National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) to reinstate these services. This reactivation allows Venezuela to reconnect with the rest of Latin America through Copa's Hub of the Americas in Panama City.

Passengers holding tickets issued until May 22, 2025, for flights to or from Venezuela, as well as nearby cities in Colombia, Aruba, and Curaçao, with original travel dates on or after July 30, 2024, are eligible to change their origin or destination to Caracas at no additional cost. This policy provides flexibility for travelers affected by the previous suspension of flights. Copa Airlines has outlined these waiver guidelines to facilitate the transition for its customers.

Copa Airlines is the flag carrier of Panama and operates an extensive network of flights throughout North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Headquartered in Panama City, the airline utilizes Tocumen International Airport as its primary hub, known as the Hub of the Americas. As of May 2025, Copa Airlines serves 84 international destinations in 32 countries and is a member of the Star Alliance network.
