An American Airlines flight departing from San Francisco International Airport on Friday faced an engine issue that led to a "puff of smoke" and debris on the runway, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The incident involved Flight AA1175, operated by an Airbus A321-200. The aircraft took off from Runway 01R with visible smoke coming from its left engine. Despite this, the crew continued the flight, reaching an altitude of 35,000 feet en route to Dallas-Fort Worth.
An American Airlines spokesperson stated that the plane "experienced a mechanical issue while departing from San Francisco that did not impact the safety of flight or prevent the aircraft from continuing" its scheduled journey.
