Emirates is set to resume flights to Damascus starting on July 16, 2025. The airline had previously suspended operations to the Syrian capital in 2012. This decision follows a comprehensive evaluation conducted in conjunction with the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Initially, Emirates will operate three weekly services on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Starting August 2, an additional flight on Saturday will increase the frequency to four weekly flights. By October 26, daily operations are planned.

The service will use a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with a seating capacity of 302 passengers. Flights from Dubai will depart at noon and arrive in Damascus at 2:10 PM local time. Return flights will leave Damascus at 4:30 PM and reach Dubai by 8:30 PM local time.

These flights aim to enhance connectivity for travelers and support Syria's economic recovery by facilitating foreign investment in sectors like energy, construction, and agriculture. Emirates' partnership with flydubai through codeshare agreements will provide more options for travelers flying to and from Damascus.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group stated: “Emirates is pleased to restart operations to Damascus and support Syria’s road ahead by providing better choice and connectivity, essential economic links for inwards investment as well as opening new trade lanes and global market access for the country."

Trade between the UAE and Syria reached $680 million in 2024, marking a significant increase over the previous year. The new flights are expected to further stimulate these trade ties. The Syrian community in the UAE plays an important role in its economy through entrepreneurial ventures.

The Boeing aircraft serving this route offers both Business Class and Economy Class seating arrangements. Passengers can enjoy various inflight amenities including Levantine-inspired dishes and a wide selection of entertainment options through Emirates’ award-winning inflight system.

Emirates first commenced services to Damascus in 1988 but halted them in 2012 after carrying over two million passengers between Syria and other destinations.
