dnata Travel Group and Emirates Holidays, both subsidiaries of the Emirates Group, are set to host Horizon: Maldives, an industry event at Kurumba resort on June 10, 2025. This gathering highlights the group's focus on the Maldives as a rapidly growing destination.

The event follows a record year for Maldivian tourism in 2024, when over 2 million international visitors arrived—a 9% increase from 2023. The Ministry of Tourism anticipates that arrivals will reach 2.2 million by the end of this year.

Horizon: Maldives aims to enhance cooperation between Emirates Group brands and local hospitality entities. Discussions will cover sustaining tourism growth and exploring new visitor segments. John Bevan, CEO at dnata Travel Group, stated, "This is our second Horizon event in the Maldives... We’ve seen significant and consistent growth in traveller demand for the Maldives across all our global brands over the years."

Bob Kabli, Senior Vice President Online Sales Development for Emirates, noted that their partnership with MMPRC ensures continued success in attracting visitors through collaboration within the tourism ecosystem.

The dnata Travel Group has expanded its passenger volumes to the Maldives by 30% from 2023 to 2024 and continues this trend into 2025. It has also diversified its source markets significantly. Recently, dnata Travel partnered with MMPRC to promote the destination across GCC countries and launched initiatives in the UK through its Travelbag brand.

Emirates Holidays has been pivotal in promoting inbound tourism via familiarisation trips and joint campaigns with MMPRC and local hotels. "We’ll continue to explore similar joint marketing initiatives across our wider portfolio of brands," Bevan added.

Horizon: Maldives will be attended by leaders from dnata Travel Group, representatives from Emirates Airline, MMI beverage distributor, resort owners, hotel managers, and government officials. This marks their second event in the Maldives and fourth in the Indian Ocean region after Mauritius and Sri Lanka.
