The Waldorf Astoria New York, a landmark hotel known for its historical significance and numerous innovations in the hospitality industry, is set to reopen in September after a substantial renovation. Originally opened in 1893 and relocated to Park Avenue in 1931, the hotel has been at the forefront of luxury accommodation.

The hotel's notable history includes introducing telephones in rooms and room service, as well as creating iconic dishes like the Waldorf salad, red velvet cake, and eggs Benedict. Its guest list features prominent figures such as U.S. presidents, Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2017, the Waldorf Astoria closed for a renovation project reportedly costing up to $2 billion. The renovations have reduced the number of guest rooms from 1,400 to 375 while adding 372 branded residences. The project also includes restoring original features with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill handling renovations and Pierre-Yves Rochon overseeing interior design.

Ahead of its reopening, details about new offerings have emerged. Fueguia 1833 has crafted a signature scent named "301 Park Avenue" for the hotel. Jeff Bell is designing the cocktail program while Michael Anthony will helm a restaurant called Lex Yard. A Guerlain Wellness Spa spanning 30,000 square feet will also be part of the revamped amenities.

For those interested in visiting after its reopening, initial rates start at $1,312 per night or require at least 600,000 Hilton Honors points through late 2025. January may offer more affordable options with rates around $1,100 per night or award availability starting at 150,000 points.
