flydubai has initiated the construction of a new aircraft maintenance facility in Dubai South, UAE. The project is set to conclude by the end of 2026 and aims to enhance maintenance control and turnaround times for the airline's expanding fleet.

At the 2023 Dubai Airshow, flydubai signed an agreement with Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub to establish its first dedicated Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South, near Al Maktoum International Airport.

The facility will cover over 32,600 square meters and feature an aircraft hangar, workshops, and office buildings. It will support more than 600 engineers across various technical departments. Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, stated: “Since launching operations in 2009, we have made great strides in enhancing connectivity and driving innovation, and the development of our new Aircraft Maintenance Centre will play a key role in the next chapter of our growth journey."

flydubai currently operates a fleet of 90 aircraft with an average age of 6.8 years. This includes Boeing models such as the 737 MAX 8s and MAX 9s. At the recent airshow, flydubai ordered 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners valued at $11 billion. Deliveries are expected to start in 2026; however, Al Ghaith expressed concerns about potential delays from Boeing.

In May 2025, flydubai expanded its European network by adding routes to Moldova, Romania, Latvia, and Lithuania. This move positions flydubai as the first UAE carrier to offer nonstop flights from Dubai to these Baltic capitals.

The expansion increases flydubai's network to over 135 destinations across multiple countries including Europe. New direct flights are scheduled for launch starting September 2025 using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
