FedEx has announced a partnership with FUSO to introduce 12 electric trucks into its ground transportation fleet in Taiwan. This move makes FedEx the first international logistics company in Taiwan to incorporate electric delivery vehicles. The initial batch of six electric trucks is already operational, featuring high endurance and strong torque for urban delivery needs.

According to evaluations by FUSO, these new electric trucks significantly reduce energy costs compared to traditional diesel trucks. Designed specifically for urban delivery in Taiwan, they offer improved maneuverability and can travel up to 200 kilometers on a single charge with three battery packs. The regenerative braking technology enhances delivery efficiency by reducing downtime required for charging. The responsive acceleration and start-up performance allow the vehicles to adapt flexibly to the variable traffic conditions in Taiwanese cities, further enhancing delivery operations.

Su Chih-Min, Managing Director of FedEx Taiwan, stated: "FedEx is moving towards achieving carbon-neutral global operations by 2040, and electrifying our fleet is one of the key pathways to achieving this goal. Introducing electric delivery trucks not only demonstrates our firm commitment to environmental sustainability but also brings tangible benefits in terms of energy costs and operational efficiency, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Taiwan's logistics industry."

Jung Woo Park, CEO of Daimler Trucks Asia Taiwan, commented: "FUSO is honored to deliver the all-electric FUSO eCanter to FedEx. This globally tested truck combines performance and efficiency, making it well-suited for addressing Taiwan's complex urban delivery needs. FUSO is committed to assisting Taiwanese businesses in achieving smart and sustainable logistics operations through mature technology and comprehensive after-sales service while contributing to the development of a sustainable transport industry."

In December 2023, FedEx introduced five Rapide 3 electric tricycles into its transportation fleet in Taiwan. With the introduction of these electric trucks, FedEx will continue monitoring fleet performance and advance its pickup and delivery fleet electrification transformation gradually. FedEx pledges to enhance operational resilience in Taiwan through innovative transportation technologies and sustainable logistics strategies, leading the logistics industry toward a low-carbon future while supporting the company's long-term goal of achieving carbon-neutral global operations by 2040.
