American Express has announced plans to open a new Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) in 2026. This will be the company's 29th lounge and its second location in Europe, following London. The lounge will be situated between Concourses E and F.

The new space is set to feature a Dutch-inspired design, showcasing art from local artists and offering locally inspired food and beverage options. A special coffee bar will highlight the cultural significance of coffee in the Netherlands.

Despite its premium design, the lounge will cover only 6,000 square feet, making it one of the smallest in Amex's network. Given that AMS is Europe's fourth-busiest airport, it is expected to be quite busy.

Amex began its venture into airport lounges in 2013 with its first location in Las Vegas. Since then, it has expanded significantly worldwide. Although competitors like Capital One and Chase have entered the market, they do not yet have as extensive a network as Amex or any lounges in Europe.

In addition to Amsterdam, Amex plans to open lounges at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), and Tokyo's Haneda Airport (HND). The Newark lounge is slated for next year, while Salt Lake City and Tokyo are expected by 2025. A two-story lounge at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is also planned for 2027.
