Taiwan-based EVA Air is set to introduce its new premium economy cabin in the United States, starting with a service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) this fall. This marks the U.S. debut of the airline's revamped cabin, which features premium recliners and large seatback touchscreens.

The Points Guy first reported in February about EVA's plans to roll out this new premium economy product on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. EVA Air was among the pioneers of the premium economy cabin concept in the early 1990s.

EVA's new premium economy cabin is arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration, featuring 28 seats with leather finishes, cradle recline, and a pitch of 42 inches for more legroom. The airline has already introduced this mid-cabin product on routes between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The carrier plans to deploy these features on its DFW flights starting October 3.

"This product evolution reflects our commitment to providing passengers with greater comfort and convenience while addressing growing demand for a more spacious and refined long-haul travel experience," said Andrew Su, EVA's executive vice president for North America.

The newly configured 787-9s will feature three cabins: Royal Laurel business class, premium economy, and main cabin. Premium economy will offer larger tray tables designed for personal devices, privacy panels, over-the-ear headphones for seatback viewing, and meals served on tableware from Italian brand Guzzini.

EVA's DFW route launches on October 3 with three weekly round trips. The carrier will expand flight offerings to North Texas between October and December, increasing to five weekly flights by November 18 and daily service by December 15. DFW will be EVA's seventh U.S. city and second in Texas; it already operates nonstop flights between TPE and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

Last year, airline executives mentioned interest in Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, D.C.

Travelers can book EVA’s premium economy using points through Citi ThankYou Rewards or Capital One miles transferred to EVA Infinity MileageLands or search award space via Star Alliance partners like United Airlines or Singapore Airlines.

EVA aims to enhance its presence amid competition from Starlux Airlines expanding into North America. Additionally, Southwest Airlines recently announced a partnership with China Airlines based in Taiwan.

The airline also hinted at revamping its highest-end cabin with potential suites featuring sliding privacy doors but has not made any formal announcements yet.
