Air China Boeing 747 | Official Website

Air China, Korean Air, and Lufthansa continue to operate Boeing 747 passenger flights to the United States. The more modern 747-8i is predominantly used, with Lufthansa being the only airline still using the older -400 variant for US routes.

Depending on the season, there are between seven and 14 daily scheduled passenger 747 departures in the US. Lufthansa accounts for most of these flights (71%), followed by Korean Air (19%) and Air China (10%).

Korean Air plans significant changes to its 747 network, including reinstating the 368-seat 747-8i between Seoul Incheon and New York JFK starting October 26. This change coincides with winter schedule adjustments by northern carriers based on IATA slot seasons. The aircraft will replace both the Airbus A380 and the 777-300ER on this route.

The longest passenger Boeing 747 flight from the US is operated by Air China from Washington Dulles back to Beijing Capital, lasting up to 16 hours and 55 minutes. These extended block times result from avoiding Russian airspace.

Air China's first-class-equipped, 365-seat Queen of the Skies returned to Virginia on March 11, replacing a smaller aircraft. Flights now run twice weekly in both directions.

Korean Air's passenger flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport have been ongoing since 1994 but will cease when replaced by a different aircraft model in September.
