TWA Hotel at New York's JFK Airport | Official Website

At New York's JFK Airport, the TWA Hotel stands as a testament to mid-century design and modern engineering. Originally completed in 1962, the TWA Flight Center was considered a masterpiece of its time, bringing glamour and excitement to air travel during the 1960s. The terminal ceased passenger operations in 2001 but was repurposed as a hotel following a restoration project that began in 2015.

Designed by Eero Saarinen for Trans World Airlines (TWA), the terminal features a wing-shaped shell roof supported by four Y-shaped piers. Its interior and exterior have been designated as landmarks of New York City and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Trans World Airlines, which began as Transcontinental & Western Air in 1930, merged with American Airlines in December 2001 after facing financial difficulties. At its peak, TWA operated an all-jet fleet across eight hubs in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The TWA Flight Center's lease expired in 2002, leading to concerns about its future. However, JetBlue agreed to reopen it alongside constructing a new terminal. The center was dormant for several years before being transformed into the TWA Hotel, which opened in May 2019.

Today, the hotel offers 512 guest rooms with various amenities reflecting its aviation heritage. It boasts conference facilities for up to 1,600 people and features Connie—a cocktail lounge inside a vintage Lockheed Constellation aircraft—among other attractions. Connected to JetBlue's Terminal 5 via original flight tubes and the AirTrain, the TWA Hotel continues to celebrate its iconic history at one of the world's busiest airports.
