American Airlines is set to launch a new lounge concept at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) called Provisions by Admirals Club. This grab-and-go lounge aims to provide quick service for travelers with limited time. The initiative marks the airline's first attempt at such a concept, intended to reduce congestion and offer more flexibility at its second-busiest hub.

The Provisions by Admirals Club will open later this summer in Concourse A near Gate A1. It will cover approximately 2,000 square feet and is designed for short visits, featuring high-top standing tables and minimal seating. Passengers can choose from various grab-and-go food options like sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, and snacks, including vegetarian choices. Admirals Club representatives will be available on-site to assist with itinerary changes and other travel needs.

Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer at American Airlines, stated: "This new concept provides a needed respite for our customers traveling through one of our biggest hubs. Whether they’re looking for a quick snack or help on their travel journey, they can find what they need at the Provisions by Admirals Club lounge."

Charlotte serves as American Airlines' second-busiest hub with over 670 peak-day departures to more than 170 destinations across 27 countries. The introduction of this new lounge concept is expected to alleviate pressure on existing Admirals Clubs that often reach capacity during peak times.

Access to the Provisions lounge follows the same entry rules as other Admirals Club locations. Entry is available through membership, qualifying oneworld status, or holding a Citi / AAdvantage Executive credit card. AAdvantage status members are also eligible when flying on qualifying international routes. One-day passes are available for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.

American Airlines joins other major US carriers like United Airlines and Delta Air Lines in offering grab-and-go lounges. United introduced its United Club Fly concept in Denver in 2022 and expanded it to Houston earlier this year.
