Simple Flying recently had the opportunity to fly with EVA Air from London Heathrow to Taoyuan International Airport, with a stop in Bangkok. The review focuses on the journey from London to Bangkok in EVA Air's Royal Laurel Class, which was introduced in 2012 and offers lie-flat business class seats.

The flight, BR68, was scheduled for 21:35 on a Sunday evening. The check-in process was smooth, and passengers could access the United Airlines lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2. Boarding was efficient for Royal Laurel fliers, who enjoyed priority boarding onto the Boeing 777-300ER.

The seat configuration featured a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout. Seat 11K offered a width of 26 inches, a pitch of 82 inches, its own power supply, USB port, and a 15.4-inch IFE screen. The seat reclines fully into a flat bed complemented by amenities such as designer pajamas and a cozy duvet.

The inflight entertainment system could be controlled via touchscreen or remote. It included various options like sitcoms and movies, with high-quality audio provided by EVA Air headphones. Complimentary WiFi allowed for messaging and browsing.

Meal service began shortly after takeoff with options like fish in purée sauce and Taiwan's famous oolong tea. Despite gluten intolerance concerns, the meals exceeded expectations compared to other airlines' offerings.

Service from flight attendants was attentive throughout the flight. They were proactive in offering snacks and drinks without delay. Passengers received pajamas designed by Jason Wu and an amenity kit featuring products from Jurlique.

The Boeing 777-300ER used for this flight has been part of EVA Air's fleet since March 2017. The aircraft landed at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport just slightly behind schedule after an approximately eleven-hour journey.

EVA Air operates a widebody fleet that includes Boeing 777-300ERs among other aircraft types. Despite the long-haul nature of flights between Europe and Southeast Asia, EVA Air's Royal Laurel Class provides a comfortable experience.
