Emirates has unveiled a new collection of upcycled accessories made from materials that would have otherwise been discarded during its fleet retrofit program. These items, which include bags and luggage, are now available for purchase through the airline's online store. The prices range up to $350, with some of the proceeds supporting charitable causes linked to Emirates.

The UAE flag carrier has introduced a second line of 'Aircrafted' products featuring light and creamy colors, reminiscent of the desert landscape in its homeland. These items are crafted from excess materials collected during the retrofit of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. According to Emirates, "from 63 retrofitted aircraft, more than 30,000 kg of materials have been repurposed and assigned to creating luggage and bags."

Emirates has emphasized that "all the Aircrafted bags were designed and handmade by Emirates tailors in a dedicated cabin workshop at Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai." The team consists of 14 tailors, officially titled Engineering Maintenance Assistants.

This initiative is not new; it follows a previous collection launched in November 2023 that raised over $17,000 for children via the Emirates Airline Foundation. The current collection includes four items priced between $80 and $350. Customers can also use Emirates Skywards miles for purchases.

The airline has also donated these upcycled bags to various causes. Most proceeds go to officially partnered charities. As stated by Emirates, "your donation will cover some operational costs, but all remaining proceeds will be donated to Emirates Airline Foundation." In addition to monetary donations, the airline has provided these bags directly to those in need.

In October 2024, Simple Flying reported that Emirates donated an additional 100 backpacks made from recycled leather to educators in Johannesburg.
