Global Entry has become an essential tool for international travelers looking to expedite their return to the United States. Since its introduction in 2008 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, this system has been helping American travelers bypass long lines at customs upon re-entry into the country.
Currently, Global Entry services are available at over 75 airports worldwide. This program is especially beneficial for frequent international travelers, as it allows preapproved, low-risk individuals to use automatic kiosks at select airports. "Global Entry members can, in many cases, simply take a photo at a mobile kiosk," explains Sean Cudahy of The Points Guy.
Additionally, Global Entry membership includes access to TSA PreCheck, an expedited security program run by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration. As Cudahy notes, "Global Entry can help users skip long immigration lines and complete the customs process in as little as 45 seconds."
