Chicago O'Hare International Airport has set a new passenger record, with 115,962 travelers passing through on July 20. This surpasses the previous record of 113,772 passengers set in June, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The airport has seen several record-breaking days this year, exceeding pre-pandemic figures from 2019.
The TSA reported that July 20 was its busiest day ever at Chicago O’Hare. The agency had previously screened 113,772 passengers on June 22. Jim Spriggs, TSA Illinois Federal Security Director, stated: “On our busiest days, our officers remain laser-focused on delivering a safe and efficient screening experience to all passengers traveling through our airports."
Chicago O’Hare's traffic has significantly increased since last year. Its busiest day in 2024 was October 14, with 108,353 passengers. Currently ranked as the second-busiest airport by seats in the US for summer 2025 behind Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), Chicago O'Hare has experienced a capacity growth of 9% compared to last summer.
