Allegiant Air has announced plans to launch service in Atlantic City, New Jersey, marking its second new city addition within two days. The airline will introduce four routes from Atlantic City to Florida, with the first flight scheduled for December.

The expansion is Allegiant’s third in the past month and includes a total of 16 new routes and two new cities. Just a day earlier, the carrier revealed Huntsville, Alabama as another new destination.

Allegiant's inaugural flight from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) will begin on December 11 with service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Three additional routes—to St. Petersburg (PIE), Orlando Sanford (SFB), and Punta Gorda (PGD)—are set to start by mid-February. Introductory fares for these flights start at $39 one-way.

With this move, Allegiant will increase competition at ACY, an airport where Spirit Airlines has been the dominant passenger carrier. Currently, Spirit is the only airline operating passenger flights out of Atlantic City. American Airlines offers a "flight-by-bus" connection from ACY to its hub at Philadelphia International Airport.

All four of Allegiant’s new routes are to destinations already served by Spirit Airlines; however, in three cases, Spirit flies into different airports in those Florida markets.

The full list of Allegiant's new routes from Atlantic City includes:

- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL): Service begins December 11 with twice-weekly flights.

- Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB): Service begins December 19 with twice-weekly flights.

- Punta Gorda Airport (PGD): Service begins February 13 with twice-weekly flights.

- St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE): Service begins February 13 with twice-weekly flights.

“Allegiant unveils 7 new routes across 12 cities, with introductory fares from $49 one-way,” according to the company.
