BermudAir, a leisure airline based in Bermuda, will begin offering new nonstop flights from Bermuda's L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) this October. The airline will serve EWR starting Oct. 26, with flights operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays. Service to LGA will begin three days later, also twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

With this move, BermudAir shifts its operations from Westchester County Airport (HPN), north of New York City, to the region’s main airports. Flights to HPN will end once the new routes commence. Additionally, BermudAir's subsidiary AnguillAir is set to launch twice-weekly service between Anguilla's Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) and EWR beginning Dec. 18.

The airline operates Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft for these routes.

Adam Scott, founder and CEO at BermudAir, said in a statement: "Expanding our New York-area service is a significant step forward for BermudAir, providing both leisure and corporate travelers with more flexibility and convenient access to Bermuda."

It remains unclear how BermudAir obtained the necessary takeoff slots at LGA or runway timings at EWR—both considered difficult due to tight regulations and high demand at these airports. The company declined to comment on how it secured these operational rights.

This expansion occurs as BermudAir faces financial questions. Skyport, which operates BDA airport in Bermuda, sued the airline in July for alleged unpaid airport fees totaling millions of dollars.

Since its 2023 launch as an all-business class carrier connecting Bermuda with North America, BermudAir has shifted its business model to offer dual-class cabins aboard four Embraer jets.

The network changes are not limited to New York-area airports. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, BermudAir will discontinue service from Charleston International Airport (CHS) on Oct. 26 and Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) on Dec. 14; flights from Providence’s Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) ended in July.

On the LGA-Bermuda route, BermudAir will be the only carrier offering direct service; United Airlines competes with it on the EWR-BDA route.

BermudAir currently does not have a loyalty program or participate in any frequent flyer programs.
