American Airlines adds Charlotte–Palm Springs seasonal route amid rising demand

Charlotte serves as a major hub for American Airlines on the East Coast. The airline operates about 90% of all departures from CLT. Alongside the new Palm Springs flight, American Airlines is adding other routes from Charlotte: a nonstop flight to Albuquerque International Sunport Airport (ABQ) in New Mexico beginning October 3, 2025—which will run for ten days during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta—and daily nonstop flights to Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) starting December 19, 2025 with CRJ-700 aircraft. On that same date, flights will also commence between CLT and Vail Eagle County Regional Airport using Airbus A319 aircraft.

American Airlines is also expanding internationally with six new summer routes for 2026. These include seasonal transatlantic flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich; an extended summer service from Dallas-Fort Worth to Buenos Aires; Miami to Milan year-round; and Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague.

The Miami-Milan Malpensa route marks a return since it was discontinued at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This launch follows another recent addition between Miami and Rome Fiumicino Airport.

The carrier is part of the oneworld alliance and operates several hubs across major U.S. cities including Chicago O'Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles International Airport, Miami International Airport, New York JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
