Holiday Inn Express will offer free Costa Coffee at its hotels across the United States next weekend, as part of a new partnership between the hotel brand and Costa Coffee. The promotion is available to both guests and non-guests from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. local time on August 30, according to IHG.

The initiative is timed to celebrate the return of college football, with the complimentary coffee offered at locations within 10 miles of participating Division I FBS schools. Holiday Inn Express is one of several IHG brands now serving Costa Coffee, along with Avid, Atwell Suites, Garner Hotels, and Candlewood Suites.

"For years, Holiday Inn Express has helped guests start their day right with a fresh, hot, complimentary breakfast – one of our signature offerings. ... Now, breakfast is getting even better as Costa Coffee becomes part of the Holiday Inn Express experience," said Justin Alexander, vice president of global brand management for Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. "For college football fans, the morning can define the whole game day, and with thousands of locations across the country, we're here to welcome those getting ready to embark on pre-game traditions, cheer on their teams, and maybe even roast a rival or two!"

IHG reports that Holiday Inn Express is its fastest-growing brand worldwide and operates more than 3,000 properties globally. The chain is known for offering complimentary breakfasts that include items such as bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, oatmeal and yogurt.

In the U.S., many Holiday Inn Express hotels are located in college towns near major universities such as the University of Wisconsin–Madison in Madison; The University of Arizona in Tucson; University of Maryland in College Park; and University of Oregon in Eugene.

Holiday Inn Express falls under IHG’s "essentials collection" and participates in the company’s IHG One Rewards loyalty program. While not considered as upscale as other IHG brands like Six Senses or InterContinental Hotels & Resorts (https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental/hotels/gb/en/reservation), it is positioned as an affordable option for travelers seeking value.
