British Airways has announced its plans for the summer 2026 schedule, introducing several changes to its route network and increasing capacity on select services. The airline revealed that all flights to New York’s JFK Airport will operate from London Heathrow, ending the single daily rotation from Gatwick. This adjustment means nine daily round trips between Heathrow and JFK next summer, using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

The carrier is also expanding its service to Bangkok by upgrading the London Gatwick–Bangkok route from a winter-only operation to year-round service. Flights will run up to six times a week, resulting in an additional 60,000 seats annually. British Airways aims to attract both point-to-point travelers and those connecting onward through its partnership with Bangkok Airways, which offers connections to destinations such as Phuket and Phnom Penh.

Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways, said: "We’re delighted to expand our long-haul network from London Heathrow and Gatwick next summer, adding more services to some of our most-loved destinations. Whether customers are travelling for business, leisure, or visiting loved ones, we hope they take advantage of these additional flights, which offer greater choice and convenience, making it easier than ever to connect with their favourite destinations around the world."

In the United States market—despite recent declines in international traffic due in part to ongoing tariff disputes—British Airways will maintain nine daily round trips between London and New York JFK. The airline will also increase frequencies on routes to Miami and Dallas/Fort Worth, both major hubs for alliance partner American Airlines. Miami will see double-daily flights reinstated next summer while daily service returns on the Dallas/Fort Worth route.

Leisure-focused destinations are also set for increased capacity. San Diego and Austin routes from Heathrow will be served up to 14 times weekly in 2026. Las Vegas flights will rise from ten per week to thirteen.

Gatwick Airport loses its direct New York service but gains an extra weekly flight on the Kingston (Jamaica) route—rising from three flights per week this year to four in 2026. The airline attributes this increase to strong demand for leisure travel in the region.

The Middle East remains an important market for British Airways. Frequencies between Heathrow and Bahrain will more than double next year with daily operations planned for 2026. Service levels are also rising on other Middle Eastern routes: twice-daily flights are scheduled between Heathrow and both Doha (Qatar) and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), while Jeddah’s frequency increases to five times per week.

British Airways continues as a full-service carrier based at London Heathrow and Gatwick airports since its founding in 1974. It is part of the IAG group and a member of the oneworld alliance under CEO Sean Doyle.
