A new offer for the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card has been introduced, surprising many in the points and miles community. The card is now providing 125,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to new cardholders who spend $6,000 within the first three months of opening their account.

This marks the highest welcome bonus ever offered on this card. Previously, the largest public bonus was 100,000 points along with a $500 Chase Travel credit after spending $5,000 in the first three months—a promotion that ended just hours before the announcement of this new offer. When the Sapphire Reserve was first launched in 2016, it also featured a six-figure welcome bonus, but since then typical offers have ranged between 60,000 and 80,000 points.

According to The Points Guy’s August 2025 valuations, redeeming 125,000 Chase points through transfer partners could yield more than $2,500 in value. “By awarding 125,000 bonus points after hitting the card's spending requirement, this offer is the highest number of welcome bonus points we've ever seen on this card,” The Points Guy stated.

The annual fee for the Sapphire Reserve increased from $550 to $795 in June 2025. This change included expanded credits such as a $500 annual statement credit for The Edit hotels (split into two $250 biannual credits with a minimum two-night stay) and a $300 annual statement credit for StubHub or Viagogo event ticket purchases (split into two $150 biannual credits through December 31, 2027; activation required). These updates may offset some of the higher costs for frequent travelers.

Additionally, new PointsBoost redemption options allow users to get up to two cents per point on eligible travel bookings. Some users report that these options have improved their strategies for using rewards.

The Points Guy commented: “If the way you normally use points aligns with leveraging transfer partners and sometimes getting even more than 2 cents per point in value, I'd argue that this new offer of 125,000 total bonus points after meeting the required spend may be the best one yet for some travelers.”

For those considering applying for a premium travel rewards card and able to meet higher spending requirements and annual fees—while also making use of expanded credits—the current Chase Sapphire Reserve offer may represent an opportunity not previously available.
