Eurowings has achieved certification for its German sites under the European EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) and international ISO 14001 standards. The process began with an initial audit in May 2025 and concluded in August 2025, when the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued the EMAS certificate. The certification applies to all German locations involved in administration, flight operations, and maintenance for Eurowings Aviation GmbH, Eurowings GmbH, Eurowings Digital GmbH, and Eurowings Technik GmbH.

The ISO 14001 standard sets requirements for companies to improve environmental performance, manage risks, and comply with regulations. EMAS includes these requirements but also calls for greater transparency through regular external audits and the publication of an environmental statement.

For the first time, Eurowings is publishing an environmental statement covering 2022 to 2024. This document outlines the environmental impact at all German sites and details steps taken toward ecological objectives.

“The introduction of a certified environmental management system is a logical step towards embedding sustainability even more firmly in our corporate organization. The successful certification shows that we take our environmental goals seriously and continuously optimize our processes,” said Ruben Baumgarten, Sustainability Manager at Eurowings.

Plans are underway to expand certification to other European locations next year. The current environmental statement is available on the Eurowings website and will be updated annually with new data.
