Lufthansa has received its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner equipped with the new Allegris cabin at Frankfurt Airport. The aircraft arrived from Seattle, Washington, and will initially serve routes between Frankfurt and Toronto starting in mid-October. Lufthansa plans to add up to nine more Boeing 787-9s to its fleet at Frankfurt this year, with deliveries expected every two weeks.

Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, commented on the milestone: "I am particularly pleased that we can now offer our guests the premium Allegris experience in Frankfurt. With the arrival of the Boeing 787-9 today, the modernization of our long-haul fleet at our largest hub is now also receiving a major boost. This will enable us to use significantly quieter and fuel-efficient aircraft types featuring the latest technology for our guests in Frankfurt as well."

The airline highlights that the Dreamliner consumes about 2.5 liters of kerosene per passenger per 100 kilometers flown, which is roughly 25 percent less than previous models. Lufthansa has ordered a total of 29 Boeing 787-9s and expects to operate a total of 78 modern long-haul aircraft featuring Allegris cabins within several years.

The new Allegris interior offers travelers updated features across all classes. Business Class passengers have access to private suites with chest-high walls, a 27-inch monitor, personal wardrobe space, and a minibar. Seats in Business Class Suites, Premium Economy, and Economy Class are available for booking now; once certification for the Dreamliner's Business Class is complete, those seats will also be offered.

Since summer 2024, Lufthansa has been using Allegris on long-haul flights from Munich. More than half a million passengers have experienced these upgraded cabins since their introduction.
