American Express cardholders may have the opportunity to earn extra Membership Rewards points on Amazon purchases through a new Amex Offer. Some users, including several staff members at The Points Guy, reported receiving an offer for 1,200 bonus Membership Rewards points after spending $150 or more at Amazon. This offer can be used up to three times and is valid until October 25.

Other cardholders with the same American Express cards saw a different offer of 500 Membership Rewards points for spending at least $50, while some did not receive any offer. Cardholders are encouraged to check their Amex Offers to determine eligibility.

"If you use the 1,200-point offer three times, you could earn 3,600 Membership Rewards points when you spend up to $450. That equates to $72 in additional points value according to TPG's September 2025 valuations. This is in addition to the points you earn for making an Amazon purchase. For example, the Amex Gold earns 1 point per dollar spent on most general purchases. So, if you maxed out this offer and spent $450, you'd earn 450 Membership Rewards points in addition to the 1,200 bonus points."

The terms and conditions specify that only purchases made directly through amazon.com or via the Amazon mobile app are eligible for bonus points. Certain transactions do not qualify for this promotion, including purchases shipped outside the U.S., corporate gift cards and custom-designed gift cards, Prime memberships and auto-renew subscription services, as well as purchases made through third parties such as resellers or delivery services.

Cardholders should review all their American Express accounts since offers may differ between cards. Even those who are not targeted for this particular deal may find other ongoing promotions from Amazon, such as discounts when redeeming Membership Rewards points.

"Considering Amazon sells just about everything under the sun (and it probably would sell the sun, too, if it were possible), it's easy to make use of this offer if you are eligible."
