Ethiopian Airlines has announced a new four-times-weekly service from Hanoi to Johannesburg, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Stockholm, and Jeddah via its Addis Ababa hub.

According to an official press release, Ethiopian Airlines inaugurated its inaugural passenger route to Hanoi, Vietnam, with four weekly flights via Addis Ababa and a technical stop in Dhaka. This service marks the carrier’s first gateway into Vietnam and represents its 20th Asian destination. The CEO emphasized that the route not only connects countries but also serves as a bridge to foster cooperation across continents, according to VietnamPlus (VNA).

The newly launched Hanoi service is operated using the airline’s long-range Dreamliner fleet and runs four times weekly. This flight connects Vietnam not only to Addis Ababa but onward across African, European, and Middle Eastern networks via seamless hub integration at Bole Airport. Industry analysts note that such connectivity enhances trade and tourism by simplifying multi-continent travel as highlighted by AirTimes.

This expansion into Hanoi is part of Ethiopian Airlines’ broader international growth strategy. In the previous fiscal year, the airline introduced new routes to destinations such as Amsterdam, Monrovia, Port Sudan, and Dhaka. Future services to Australia are also planned. The airline now serves over 160 international destinations and continues to add routes across all continents except Australia. Leadership emphasizes that these moves align with its Vision 2035 strategy to become one of the world’s top airline groups by boosting global reach and network robustness according to Addis Insight and the airline’s corporate site.
