Hilton Honors members are facing higher costs for award stays after the hotel chain increased points pricing at several of its top-tier properties. Reports from travelers on Reddit and coverage by Danny the Deal Guru indicate that some Standard Room Rewards now require up to 250,000 Hilton Honors points per night.

Some of these increases come just months after previous hikes. For example, the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal started the year with rooms available from 140,000 points per night. After a change in May, prices rose to 190,000 points. The lowest price for a Standard Room Reward is now 250,000 points per night—an increase of over 78% within several months.

Other affected hotels include the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, where maximum point requirements rose from 150,000 earlier this year to occasional nights at 250,000 points. Additional properties seeing increases are Conrad Tokyo, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Hermitage Bay and Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island. Some saw smaller increases but all have experienced upward adjustments.

South Bank in Turks and Caicos was also mentioned as having increased rates; TPG reported in May that nightly point requirements went from 130,000 to 180,000. That figure has since climbed further to 210,000 points per night.

A Hilton Honors spokesperson provided an explanation for these changes: "Similar to how our hotels adjust their room rates based on supply and demand, we routinely monitor and occasionally adjust Hilton Honors reward pricing to more closely correlate to market demand," they said via email. "The Hilton Honors program continues to offer incredible value, flexibility and choice to our most loyal guests."

Despite the changes in redemption rates, certain benefits remain available for members trying to maximize their rewards. Elite members can use the fifth-night-free benefit when booking with points—paying for four nights and receiving the fifth at no additional cost. Free night certificates obtained through specific Hilton American Express cards do not have a cap for Standard Night Rewards; holders can still redeem them even at properties with higher point requirements.

The new award prices mean that visiting some of Hilton’s well-known or luxury locations will require more points than before—sometimes much more compared with last year’s rates. Even lesser-known city hotels are affected by these adjustments.

These developments underscore ongoing trends across loyalty programs: devaluations may happen without notice and can affect travel plans if members wait too long before redeeming accumulated points.
