Iberia, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), has announced an expansion of its long-haul route network for the upcoming winter season. The Spanish airline will add three new destinations, including a direct service between Madrid and Orlando in the United States, as well as two new routes to Brazil.

The new Madrid-Orlando route is scheduled to begin on October 26, 2025, operating four times per week from Madrid Barajas International Airport to Orlando International Airport. With this addition, Iberia will serve nine cities in the US. The flights will be operated using Airbus A330-300 aircraft configured with 292 seats across business class, premium economy, and economy cabins.

María Jesús López Solás, Chief Commercial, Network Development and Alliances Officer at Iberia, stated: "This winter, we continue to grow to connect Latin America and North America with Europe through our Madrid hub. Latin America is part of Iberia’s DNA, which is why we continue to invest in this market…In the U.S., we’re launching a new route to Orlando in October and increasing frequencies to New York, Boston and Washington, consolidating our position as the leading airline for traffic between Spain and North America."

Iberia will also increase flight frequencies on several existing US routes starting October 26, 2025 through March 28, 2026. The airline plans to double daily services between Madrid and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), a move typically reserved for summer months. Service between Madrid and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) will also see up to two daily flights operated by Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Additionally, the seasonal service between Madrid and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) will become a year-round operation using A321XLR jets.

The carrier's expansion includes two new Brazilian destinations: Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport (REC) with flights beginning December 13, 2025; and Fortaleza–Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR) starting December 19, 2025. Both routes will operate three times weekly using the Airbus A321XLR.

The introduction of the A321XLR allows Iberia to launch longer routes that do not require widebody aircraft capacity. This model seats up to 182 passengers in a two-class configuration—14 in business class and 168 in economy class—making it suitable for opening new markets without oversupplying capacity.

Founded in 1927 with its main hub at Madrid Barajas Airport, Iberia operates as a full-service carrier within IAG and is part of the oneworld alliance under CEO Javier Sánchez-Prieto.
