Lufthansa has announced plans to significantly update its onboard services in anticipation of the airline’s 100th anniversary in 2026. The initiative, named FOX—Future Onboard Experience—aims to enhance passenger experiences on long-haul flights across all classes.

Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, stated: “We are investing over 70 million euros in our new Future Onboard Experience in the next twelve months alone. We are thus investing in a top premium product, in the satisfaction of our guests and in the future of our airline. With more individuality, greater comfort and extraordinary Lufthansa Signature Moments, we are building on what has always characterized us over the past 100 years: being an attentive and unique host above the clouds.”

The airline’s ongoing fleet modernization includes aircraft such as the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900. In addition to these updates, Lufthansa recently introduced its Allegris in-flight product line. With FOX, Lufthansa intends to review and improve all onboard service elements and processes for Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class passengers.

The FOX program will allow Business Class travelers to select their second meal at a time that suits them best from a range of options including savory dishes, sweet items, snacks, and hot meals. In Economy and Premium Economy Classes, passengers will have three meal choices instead of two.

FOX also emphasizes comfort through upgraded amenities such as improved textiles and new tableware designed for all four travel classes.

The program seeks to reinforce distinctive aspects of flying with Lufthansa by maintaining features like the rose service and caviar offering in First Class or signature drinks such as the Avionic. Culinary experiences will be curated by leading chefs with menus reflecting both destinations and points of departure.

The rollout of FOX is scheduled for spring 2026.
