Turkish Airlines has reached an agreement with Boeing to purchase up to 75 aircraft from the 787 Dreamliner family. The deal includes 50 firm orders and options for an additional 25 aircraft. This is the largest order of Boeing widebody jets in Turkish Airlines' history and is part of the airline's plan to expand its fleet and route network.

The order involves both the mid-sized Boeing 787-9 and the larger 787-10 variants, which will allow Turkish Airlines to increase capacity on long-haul routes and improve passenger experience. In addition to this order, Turkish Airlines has also stated its intention to finalize an agreement for as many as 150 Boeing 737 MAX narrowbody jets.

Boeing said that "it will support more than 123,000 jobs across the US." Ahmet Bolat, Chair of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines, commented on the deal: "This landmark agreement represents much more than fleet growth. It is a reflection of our leadership in the industry as well as our dedication to innovation and operational excellence."

Bolat added, "the addition of these advanced Boeing aircraft to our fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities, but also become a significant element supporting Turkish Airlines' 2033 Vision of expanding our fleet to 800 aircraft."

Currently, Turkish Airlines operates 24 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with an average age of about four years. The carrier's widebody fleet also includes 36 Boeing 777-300ERs. On the narrowbody side, it has a mix of older models such as the 737-800s and newer planes like the MAX series.

If all options are exercised, this new order would represent about a quarter of the growth needed for Turkish Airlines’ goal of reaching a fleet size of 800 by 2033.

Boeing also noted that if finalized, Turkish Airlines’ planned purchase of up to 150 additional Boeing 737 MAX jets would be its largest single-aisle order with Boeing so far. When combined with current orders, this could result in doubling the airline’s total number of Boeing aircraft.
