FedEx Corp. has announced the launch of a new direct flight route between Dublin, Ireland, and Indianapolis, Indiana. The service will operate four days a week using a 767 aircraft and aims to speed up delivery times by allowing shipments from Dublin to bypass busy coastal gateways in the United States.

According to Richard Smith, chief operating officer for international operations and chief executive officer of FedEx's airline division, “This flight highlights the success of our Tricolor international network redesign strategy in strengthening our capabilities in the global air freight market. By adding this route, U.S.-based customers can reduce delivery times to one of Europe’s key innovation hubs, where industries like healthcare, electronics, and aerospace are experiencing significant growth. Our network, augmented by advanced digital tools, is designed to support customers in these expanding sectors.”

Wouter Roels, regional president of FedEx Europe, commented on Ireland's export activity: “Ireland is a vibrant export market, with around 68% of total goods exported in early 2025 going into the U.S. – with industries like pharmaceuticals and medical equipment leading the way. The addition of a direct flight between Dublin and Indianapolis marks a proud milestone for FedEx, connecting businesses across key industries with U.S. growth markets.”

FedEx provides several digital services aimed at improving customer experience for both importers and exporters. These include shipment tracking through FedEx Delivery Manager and import assistance via FedEx Import Tools. For e-commerce clients seeking efficient shipping options balancing speed and cost, the company offers its International Connect Plus service. Customers handling high-value items or sensitive shipments—such as those in automotive or healthcare sectors—can utilize Surround Monitoring & Intervention tools that use artificial intelligence for real-time package monitoring within the FedEx network.

The launch comes as FedEx expands its Indianapolis hub with a new cold-chain facility covering over 16,000 square feet. This facility includes three temperature-controlled zones ranging from minus 25°C to 25°C (minus 13°F to 77°F) as well as a dedicated re-icing room.

FedEx Corp., listed on NYSE under FDX, operates globally with annual revenues reported at $89 billion and employs more than half a million people worldwide. The company has set an objective to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
