Delta Air Lines is marking 20 years of partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. The airline’s employees are engaging in fundraising and awareness activities at airport gates and on flights to support breast cancer research.

Since the start of its collaboration with BCRF in 2005, Delta and its customers have raised over $33 million, which has supported 132 research projects and contributed to 660,000 hours of scientific work. In the past year, Delta achieved a record by raising $5 million for the foundation.

According to estimates for 2025, about 319,750 people in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer, including approximately 2,800 men. The BCRF has backed technological advances such as an FDA-authorized AI-powered platform that predicts a woman’s five-year risk of developing breast cancer using standard mammograms. This tool aims to enable earlier and more personalized detection.

There are currently more than four million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., and ongoing investment in research is contributing to higher survival rates and addressing disparities among different populations.

“For many of us, breast cancer is personal,” said Kristen Manion Taylor, SVP - In-Flight Service at Delta. “We’ve fought it, stood by loved ones through it and united as a community against it. The strength and support of the Delta family makes that possible.”

On September 22, Delta hosted its annual Breast Cancer One charter flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake City with 180 employee survivors, patients undergoing treatment, and supporters onboard. The event serves both as a tradition and as a demonstration of support for employees affected by breast cancer.

“Delta’s extraordinary partnership over the past 20 years has fueled groundbreaking research and brought us closer to ending breast cancer,” said Donna McKay, President and CEO of BCRF. “Together with Delta employees and customers, we’ve turned compassion into action. We are deeply proud to stand with Delta as they mark this incredible milestone.”

As part of its centennial celebrations this year, Delta says it remains committed to supporting organizations like BCRF that promote significant change. Customers can participate throughout October via several initiatives:

- Onboard purchases: Twenty-five percent of proceeds from all food and beverage sales on board will be donated to BCRF during October.

- Special drinks: Select pink-themed beverages will direct all or partial proceeds toward breast cancer research.

- Direct donations: Passengers may make monetary contributions on flights using credit or debit cards.

- Lounges: Limited-edition drinks are available at Sky Clubs or Delta One Lounges along with QR codes for direct donations.

- Online giving: Donations can also be made online or through SkyMiles miles transfers.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation was founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder and is recognized as one of the largest private funders of breast cancer research worldwide.
