A collision between two Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft operated by Endeavor Air under the Delta Connection brand occurred at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday evening. The incident, which took place just before 10:00 p.m. EST, involved the right wing of one aircraft striking the nose of another during taxiing operations.

According to flight tracking data, DL5155 (N902XJ) was scheduled to depart for Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport and had pushed back from gate 71 around 9:39 p.m., but did not begin taxiing until about 9:55 p.m. Meanwhile, DL5047 (N480PX), arriving from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, landed on Runway 4 at approximately 9:53 p.m. and exited onto taxiway B before making a turn onto taxiway M and stopping. N902XJ continued its movement and collided with the stationary N480PX.

Delta Air Lines issued a statement following the event: "Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi," a spokesperson for the carrier said. "Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience."

There were significant damages reported to both planes; N902XJ lost its winglet and sustained substantial damage to its wing, while N480PX suffered severe damage to its nose and cockpit windows. One flight attendant received minor injuries and was transported to a hospital as a precaution, according to information provided by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Passengers from both flights were returned to the terminal by bus, where they received food and beverages. Delta also arranged hotel accommodations for affected travelers and offered assistance with rebooking their journeys.

The grounded aircraft are expected to require extensive repairs before returning to service, though no timeline has been announced for their return. The incident did not cause delays or disruptions for other flights operating out of LaGuardia Airport.

Last year, another CRJ900 experienced similar ground damage at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport when it made contact with an Airbus A350-900; that jet only recently returned to service after receiving a new tail section.
