BermudAir will expand its service in the New York region by launching nonstop flights to Newark Liberty International Airport and LaGuardia Airport later this month. These new routes will join the airline’s existing flights to Westchester County Airport, providing travelers with seven weekly options between Bermuda and three major airports in the New York area.

The airline, which began operations two years ago, has grown quickly and plans to connect its main hub at L.F. Wade International Airport in St. George's, Bermuda, to 11 North American cities this winter. In December, BermudAir also intends to launch a subsidiary that will add three new routes from another Caribbean destination.

BermudAir first began flying to Westchester County Airport in August 2023 as part of its initial set of services. The White Plains airport is seen as a convenient choice for passengers from northern New York City, Connecticut, or upstate New York. At the time, CEO Adam Scott stated: "If you're in northern New York City or Connecticut, and fly with us out of Westchester, you can be in Bermuda by the time you'd otherwise be checking in at JFK."

In August, BermudAir announced plans to add service at LaGuardia and Newark while ending flights to Westchester on October 24. This move prompted negative reactions on social media from travelers who valued the smaller airport's convenience.

Responding to customer feedback, BermudAir reversed its decision and will now operate flights from all three airports throughout the winter season. Smith commented: "our most loyal and frequent travelers spoke up, and we listened," adding: “Adding service to LaGuardia and Newark is a significant milestone for BermudAir. With the launch of our ‘New York Triangle’, we’re offering nonstop flights to the three most convenient New York City area airports, providing more flexibility and convenient access to and from Bermuda.”

Bermuda is located about two hours by air from much of the US east coast. The island attracts visitors with its beaches but also serves business travelers due to its financial sector. Many residents travel frequently between Bermuda and North America for work or family reasons.

For winter operations, BermudAir will use two Embraer E175s and two Embraer E190s across eleven destinations in the US and Canada. Each route will have at least two weekly flights. Seasonal services to Charleston and Hartford are being dropped as focus shifts toward increased service in New York.

Currently, BermudAir handles nearly half of all air traffic into Bermuda. Other airlines operating long-haul or regional services include British Airways—offering daily Boeing 777 flights (reduced to five times per week during winter)—and several US and Canadian carriers with limited schedules into L.F. Wade International Airport. On four routes—Toronto (Air Canada), Montreal (Air Canada), Boston (JetBlue), and Newark (United Airlines)—BermudAir faces direct competition.

The company also announced plans for expansion beyond Bermuda through a new subsidiary called AnguillAir based in Anguilla—a British Overseas Territory in the Leeward Islands. AnguillAir will operate an Embraer E190 out of Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport starting before the holiday season with twice-weekly services from Baltimore (Mondays/Fridays), Boston (Wednesdays/Saturdays), and Newark (Sundays/Thursdays). Previously, Anguilla was primarily connected via Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport until American Airlines introduced direct Miami service in 2021 using an E175 aircraft.
