ITA Airways has announced via the social media platform X that it will extend the suspension of all flights to and from Tel Aviv through December 31, 2025. This suspension includes flights AZ809 and AZ815 scheduled for January 1, 2026. Passengers affected by this decision are eligible for rebooking or refunds.

According to Reuters, ITA Airways' decision follows ongoing regional instability affecting commercial aviation safety across Israel and neighboring airspaces. The airline's move aligns with multiple global carriers that have halted operations in the area pending clearer security conditions. The extension highlights ITA Airways' commitment to prioritizing safety while maintaining flexible passenger rebooking and refund policies.

Reuters further reports that the suspended routes include flights AZ809 and AZ815, initially scheduled to resume on January 1, 2026. Affected customers can request full refunds or opt to rebook their flights once service resumes, in accordance with European Union passenger rights regulations. ITA Airways has implemented similar policies during previous suspensions, ensuring transparent compensation procedures for affected travelers.

Simple Flying indicates that the suspension comes after ITA Airways initially planned to restart Tel Aviv flights in early November 2025 but postponed due to ongoing security advisories. The outlet notes that the airline continues to assess the situation in coordination with European aviation authorities and alliance partners. ITA’s proactive adjustments reflect a broader industry effort to prioritize operational safety in volatile geopolitical environments.

ITA Airways is Italy’s national flag carrier, founded in 2021 following the dissolution of Alitalia. The airline operates an all-Airbus fleet and is partly owned by the Italian government, with Lufthansa Group holding a minority stake as part of a strategic expansion partnership. According to ITA Airways, the carrier aims to deliver modern, sustainable air service while maintaining safety and reliability as its core brand values.
