Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has increased its capacity between China and Europe by launching five new weekly flights connecting the region to Paris, France. The move aims to strengthen trade ties between Asia and Europe, providing Asian businesses with quicker and more reliable access to European markets ahead of the busy year-end shopping season.

The new flights will depart from two major Chinese hubs: three flights each week from the FedEx APAC Hub at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and two from the FedEx Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub. All flights will use Boeing 777 freighters for direct service to the FedEx European Hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. This expansion is designed to help businesses in sectors such as e-commerce, manufacturing, high-tech, and retail manage increased demand during the holiday peak period.

Asia and Europe have a strong trading relationship. In the first half of 2025, China’s total import and export value with the European Union rose by 3.5% compared to the previous year, reaching RMB 2.82 trillion. This accounted for nearly 13% of China’s overall foreign trade, making the EU China’s second-largest trading partner. Both regions are each other's largest consumer goods import markets, reflecting their interconnected economies. There has also been rapid growth in China's exports of auto parts, textiles, household appliances, and laptops to the EU (https://www.gov.cn/lianbo/fabu/202507/content_7031904.htm).

Poh-Yian Koh, president of FedEx China, said: “As the global trade landscape continues to evolve, the European market is playing an increasingly pivotal role in the global strategies of Chinese businesses. In response to customers’ growing demand for efficient and flexible logistics solutions, we’re continuously optimizing our Asia-to-Europe network. These new flights mark a significant step in flexing our international air capacity to support the APAC–Europe trade corridor with enhanced capability and reliability. By strengthening our global network, FedEx empowers customers to navigate peak season opportunities, optimize their logistics experience, and seamlessly connect to European markets.”

With these additional flights, FedEx now operates 26 weekly services linking APAC shipments to Europe. Express shipments can reach major European destinations in as little as 48 hours. The company maintains six gateways in China—Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Qingdao, and Xiamen—and three major logistics hubs in Europe: Paris, Cologne, and Liège. A newly opened global air transit facility in Istanbul further boosts FedEx's operational capabilities along this corridor.

By leveraging its expanded network between Asia-Pacific and Europe, FedEx seeks to enable businesses to access key European markets efficiently while supporting ongoing growth in cross-continental trade.
