FedEx Express Swiss Post, a joint venture between FedEx Express and Swiss Post, has opened a new facility in Gossau, located in the canton of St. Gallen. The opening marks another step in the company’s investment in Switzerland’s logistics infrastructure, following the launch of a station in Dällikon in autumn 2023.

The Gossau facility aims to improve the company’s presence in Eastern Switzerland and increase its capacity, especially in response to rising demand in the e-commerce sector. The new site consolidates operations and administrative functions that were previously located in Wängi and Münchwilen. About 35 employees and ten partner company couriers now work at the 14,500-square-meter location, which includes a warehouse covering more than 3,600 square meters and approximately 400 square meters of office space.

The facility features three truck loading bays and 40 van docks to streamline regional pickup and delivery operations. Its sorting capacity is over 30 percent higher than the previous setup, enabling faster handling of shipments.

Sustainability was a focus in the facility’s design. The roof is equipped with a photovoltaic system spanning about 3,400 square meters, providing a nominal output of 730.8 kW/h. Charging stations for electric vans are installed inside the warehouse. Some excavated material from construction was recycled for use in the building’s foundation.

“Supporting our customers’ growth and delivering an outstanding service experience is at the heart of what we do,” said Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Benelux at FedEx. “The new facility is designed to meet the increasing demands of customers for modern transport services.”

Ron Willemsen, Managing Director Ground Operations Benelux, Switzerland & Austria said: “I am delighted that our employees have a modern workplace at the new location. The team works with great dedication every day to ensure that our customers in Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein have the best conditions for their imports and exports and can take advantage of growth opportunities.”

FedEx Express Swiss Post provides various time-definite transportation services such as overnight delivery to the United States, shipping to over 50,000 postal codes in Europe, and door-to-door delivery within Switzerland.
