FedEx has announced the addition of five weekly flights connecting the Asia-Pacific region to its European hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. This expansion aims to strengthen the reliability of service between Asia and Europe and provide businesses with faster and more flexible access to European markets ahead of the year-end shopping season.

The new flights will operate three times a week from the FedEx Asia-Pacific hub at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and twice a week from the Shanghai International Express and Cargo Hub, using Boeing B777 freighters for direct service to Paris. With these additional flights, the average daily cargo handling capacity between Asia-Pacific and Europe has increased, offering broader global business opportunities for Asian companies in sectors such as e-commerce, manufacturing, technology, and retail.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), cargo volume on the Europe-Asia route has grown for 30 consecutive months, with an increase of 13% year-on-year as of August this year. The European Union remains the largest import market from over 100 countries, with the Asia-Pacific region being its fastest-growing supplier.

Salil Chari, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience for FedEx Asia Pacific, said, "The Asia-Europe route is currently one of the fastest-growing trade routes. In a survey of about 4,000 customers in Asia this year, more than 20% responded that they plan to shift their trade focus to Europe within the next 12 months."

He added, "FedEx is quickly responding to changing trade environments and is building a new network blueprint for the next stage of growth in the Asian trade ecosystem. Through strengthened connectivity between Asia-Pacific and Europe, we will help customers respond quickly to market changes, secure new customer bases, and enhance global competitiveness."

FedEx now operates 26 weekly flights connecting Asia-Pacific and Europe, enabling express deliveries to major European cities in as little as 48 hours. The company has also recently enhanced connections from northern Vietnam to Europe, further expanding its network for import and export businesses in Asia.

Additionally, FedEx is making active use of its new global transshipment hub in Istanbul, alongside hubs in Paris, Cologne, and Liège, to respond flexibly to seasonal demand changes, shorten delivery times, and improve supply chain resilience. These efforts reflect FedEx’s long-term commitment to supporting global commerce and the success of businesses worldwide.
