Bilt Rewards has announced a significant change to its monthly Rent Day promotion, effective October 1, 2024. The program, which offers various incentives such as discounted fine dining, elite status offers, and generous transfer bonuses, will see a reduction in the maximum bonus points that can be earned.

Currently, Bilt Rewards members can earn double points on all non-rent spending with their co-branded credit card on the first of each month. Dining typically earns 3 points per dollar but increases to 6 points per dollar on Rent Day. Travel expenses normally earn 2 points per dollar but rise to 4 points on the first of the month. This bonus is currently capped at 10,000 points per month.

Starting October 1, this cap will be reduced to 1,000 bonus points per month. According to Bilt Rewards: "Effective 10/1/2024, the maximum amount of bonus points you can earn under this promotion will be 1,000 per month regardless of how much you purchase."

For some users like the individual quoted in this report, this change is substantial. "That’s a big deal to me personally," they stated. They explained that they often save up bills to pay on the first of each month using their Bilt card to maximize point earnings. "I use my Bilt card to pay those bills and earn 2 points per dollar."

The user also highlighted two main reasons for preferring Bilt over other options: "I value a single Bilt point more than any other currency," and card spend counts towards elite status with benefits such as Air France KLM Flying Club Gold membership and access to exclusive experiences through Rent Day.

The reduction in bonus point caps raises concerns about maintaining elite status levels in future years. The user expressed uncertainty about requalifying for Bilt Platinum status without the same level of incentive for spending on the first of each month.
