On Sunday, individuals can visit any DoubleTree hotel to receive a free cookie, even if they are not guests. The offer includes both the original warm chocolate chip cookie and an allergy-free version. This initiative coincides with National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day.

DoubleTree operates as a conversion brand, transforming various hotels under its name while providing consistent amenities such as toiletries and Hilton Honors points. A signature feature of the brand is offering cookies at check-in.

The brand's limited standards appeal to hotel owners seeking cost-effective rebranding solutions. Conversion costs for adopting the DoubleTree name can be up to 50% lower compared to other brands. Additionally, ongoing renovation expenses are reduced since DoubleTree properties do not need to maintain uniformity in appearance. Instead, essential requirements include an oven and cookie dough. Annually, over 30 million of these cookies are baked, including some that have been baked on the space station.

In April 2020, Hilton released the cookie recipe for home baking during a period when hotel stays were minimal.

George Clooney and Vera Farmiga highlighted the significance of the check-in cookie in the film "Up In The Air." Introduced in 1986, the check-in cookie has become a defining element of the DoubleTree brand.
