The American Express Centurion Lounge network is set to undergo changes as the company has decided to close all spas across its lounge network. This decision was confirmed by a company spokesperson to The Points Guy. The spas, which were operated in partnership with Exhale, were available at three locations: Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Miami International Airport (MIA), and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The closure of these spas is part of an effort to combat overcrowding by reallocating the space for additional seating. Although Amex did not specify how much more seating will be provided, the expectation is that it may not significantly impact overcrowding since the spas occupied relatively small spaces.

A statement from American Express clarified the decision: "As of this past Thursday, October 3rd, in order to add more seating areas and accommodate more eligible Card Members, American Express is closing the Exhale spas in the Centurion Lounges at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Miami International Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport."

While Amex aims to improve seating capacity with this move, there are hopes that savings from spa-related expenses could enhance food-and-beverage services across its network.

Despite having only three spa locations within its lounge network, the closures may affect Amex's luxury image. Competitors like Capital One and Chase continue to offer attractive amenities such as Peloton rooms and custom facials.
