Emirates enhances pilot readiness with state-of-the-art A350 simulators

Emirates has ordered three full flight simulators for its A350 fleet. The second simulator is currently undergoing acceptance tests and is expected to receive EASA approval by November.

The A350 fixed base training device mirrors the flight deck using visual and audio systems for realistic training experiences.

Capt Bader Al Marzooqi, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Flight Training stated: “Spearheading innovation is at the core of Emirates’ DNA, and that is reflected in our newly acquired A350 training equipment suites and our advanced pilot training facility set to open later in the year. We’re proud that we now have the potential to expand our pilot training capacity by 54%. With our investments in the new simulators and systems, our pilots and cabin crew are equipped, trained and supremely confident to manage any operational challenge safely and competently.”

Currently, nearly 30 pilots and 820 cabin crew members have been trained by Emirates. By November's end, over 50 pilots will complete their A350 full-flight simulator training before these aircraft enter service. The airline provides robust evidence-based training conducted by experienced instructors.

In June this year, Emirates announced collaboration with IATA and Airbus on an enhanced Competency-Based Training and Assessment program for A350 type rating.

Looking forward, Emirates has ordered 65 A350s along with 205 Boeing 777Xs as part of its expansion plans which will allow flexibility in launching new routes or enhancing existing ones.

Emirates' new pilot training facility will open later this year. It spans over 63,318 square feet with space for six full-flight simulator bays dedicated to A350s and Boeing 777X aircrafts. Across all facilities, Emirates offers aviators access to 17 full flight simulators providing more than 130,000 hours of annual training capacity.
